Marija Kaštelan, PHD

Marija Kaštelan is the head of the Department of Dermatovenerology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka. She is the head of the Psoriasis Referral Center at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, and works as a dermatologist at the Rijeka Clinical Hospital Center. Dr. Kaštelan also works in a private dermatology practice, 3DERM in Rijeka. She graduated in 1990 from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Zagreb. Since 2001, she has been a specialist in dermatovenerology and became a professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka in 2011. The main areas of her scientific research are in immunopathogenesis and the genetics of papulosquamous diseases, especially psoriasis. She has published more than 80 scientific articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. Dr. Kaštelan has attended many professional trainings in dermatological centres of excellence in Europe as well as numerous symposia and courses in the fields of inflammatory dermatological diseases, allergic dermatoses and aesthetic dermatology.
