Doris Šajn was born in 1973 in Rijeka. She graduated in Croatian language and literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Rijeka. Already during her studies, she worked as a journalist at HRT-TV center Rijeka, and afterwards at Kanal Ri, where in 1999 she became the editor of the Informative program and Special programs. In 2001, she moved to the City of Rijeka as the Head of the Mayor’s Cabinet, where she coordinates the communication system of the Mayor and the City administration with the public, as well as protocol, international cooperation and event organization. She took part in the preparation and implementation of large projects, and she especially emphasizes the preparation of the visit of Pope John Paul II. to Croatia in 2003 and participation in the Organization Team of the EP in swimming in small pools. She was also the vice-president of the Protocol Committee of the European University Games in 2016 and coordinated and managed the logistical and protocol activities of the Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture project. She received professional training in the USA, Belgium and Croatia in the field of citizen participation in decision-making, protocol, diplomacy and intercultural relations. She is the president of the Supervisory Board of Kanal Ri.
