Women’s Weekend in March reunites women and men driving change

In honor of International Women's Day, Rijeka welcomes inspiring speakers bringing forth current topics

Women’s Weekend, a conference that brings together, connects and empowers women and men influencing change, will convene again. It will feature prominent figures from various fields such as business, media, lifestyle, IT, health, and beauty, all set to occur from March 7th to 10th in Rijeka. Hosted at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Art Quarter, Women’s Weekend aims to be the focal point for sharing experiences, discussing current issues, and fostering empowerment and equality. The eagerly awaited conference surpassed expectations in its inaugural edition, with venues brimming with attendees. Around a thousand attendees found inspiration in the substantive lectures and panels, featuring university professors, presidents, board members of notable companies, successful entrepreneurs, and opinion leaders.

The program will cover a diverse array of engaging and timely topics, including women in business, the future of entrepreneurship, activism, and the challenges encountered by Generation Z, along with the successful navigation of various female roles. The initial lineup of inspiring panelists for the second edition of this important regional conference hails from a wide range of fields, each achieving remarkable results in their respective domains.

Dr. Cat Bohannon, an American writer, brings her expertise in narrative and cognition evolution from Columbia University. With a master’s degree in poetry and journalism, her book ‘EVE: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution’ has become a bestseller. Lana Djurkin-König joins us as well, with over 20 years of experience in national, international, and corporate security for major global companies like the Swiss-Re Group, EY, and DHL Group. She was honored with a NATO medal for her contributions and served in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan. Additionally, Boris Vujčić, the governor of the Croatian National Bank, will contribute to a panel discussion on financial literacy. Actress and activist Milena Radulović, known for her impactful presence last year, will share insights from a trial that reverberated across the region. From Slovenia, Nika Kovač, an activist, sociologist, anthropologist, and head of the Slovenian Institute ‘8. Mart’, will delve into various forms of subjugation, primarily concerning gender, and examine questions of (in)equality in a broader societal context.
