Cat Bohannon is set to join Women’s Weekend, bringing with her a bestseller that shatters myths about the female body
These conclusions stem from a multi-year research effort led by writer and doctor Cat Bohannon, renowned for her bestselling book “Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution.
The versatile Cat Bohannon is set to grace the second edition of the Women’s Weekend, scheduled from March 7th to 10th at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Art Quarter in Rijeka. During her presentation, Dr. Cat Bohannon will share her discoveries and unveil the secrets underlying female evolution.
“During my presentation, I’ll delve into the insights from my book, with a special emphasis on breasts – why we have them, their true purpose, and how these new perspectives reshape our understanding of women’s deeper history in society,” announced Dr. Cat Bohannon ahead of her visit to Croatia. Her book, “Eve: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution,” will be translated and published by the publishing house Ljevak in September.
Cat Bohannon has visited Croatia before, but this marks her first visit to Rijeka. During the Women’s Weekend, attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to engage directly with the author, delve into her research and discoveries, and discuss pivotal questions that shape our understanding of female evolution.
Scientist, author, and mother
Dr. Cat Bohannon embodies more than just her role as a scientist; she’s also a mother who successfully juggled family life and professional challenges during the decade she spent researching and writing her book. Her passion for exploring the evolution of the female body is fueled by a desire to shatter the silence surrounding women in biology and biomedical sciences.
“I aspire for my book to pave the way for others. By breaking taboos, I aim to create a safe space for others to do the same,” highlights Dr. Bohannon, who will explain the significant evolutionary aspects of the female body during her visit to Rijeka. She’ll explore topics such as the role of breasts, the evolution of language, tools, and bipedalism.
“I believe women played a crucial role in the evolution of language as they were the primary educators during the critical phase of brain development – the first three years of life, coinciding with breastfeeding. Many primatologists suggest that women also had a pivotal role in the early use of tools, as observed today in chimpanzees. Furthermore, the natural endurance of the female body, still evident in endurance athletes today, offers unique advantages for challenging bipedal movement,” explains Dr. Bohannon, eagerly awaited at this year’s Women’s Weekend.
