The first regional Weekend with a female focus

Women’s Weekend in Rijeka with Maja Göpel, Renata Salecl and Milena Radulović

This year, the Women’s Weekend regional conference will for the first time bring together prominent names from the region and around the world with the aim of connecting and empowering women, as well as finding answers to open questions. Through numerous lectures, panels, workshops and one-on-one conversations, visitors to Rijeka will have the opportunity to hear inspiring stories from leading domestic and international opinion makers on a whole range of topics, including politics, business, IT, lifestyle, health and beauty.

Why are women still underrepresented in decision-making positions in politics and business? What are the challenges faced by female leaders in 2023 and how to overcome them? Are women sufficiently represented in the media and do they have the power to influence change? Can women today have it all – family, career and time for themselves? These are just some of the questions that will be answered by leading entrepreneurs, politicians, actors and influencers at the Exportdrvo Hall and the Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa from 9-11 March. The intention of the Women’s Weekend conference is to connect women from different industries and social spheres, to strengthen the position of women and to underline the importance of finding time for yourself despite busy schedules.

“Women’s Weekend was created primarily to fill a need. The idea is to gather inspiring and interesting women from different professions and businesses in order to network and talk about topics that are important to all of us. Women’s Weekend is a platform that finally puts women in the foreground. This is why it is so important to bring together some of the most influential women from the region and the whole world. I am so proud to have the likes of  Renata Salecl and Maja Göpel, as well as numerous other women, at our conference. And, of course, notable men will also be invited to speak about these topics and open questions. And all this will take place in Rijeka,” said program director and organizer Nevena Rendeli Vejzović.

Maja Göpel, bestselling author of “Rethinking Our World: An Invitation to Rescue our Future”, is an honorary professor at Leuphana University of Lüneburg and one of the most prominent German political economists; distinguished Slovenian philosopher and sociologist, and former Scientist of the Year, Renata Salecl; and Serbian actress and activist Milena Radulović, whose story shook the entire region, are just some of the speakers at the inaugural regional Women’s Weekend.

In addition to lectures, panels and one-on-one conversations, Women’s Weekend will also be a place for rest and relaxation during the week when we celebrate International Women’s Day.
