Sonja Schirmbeck is the director of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) for Croatia and Slovenia since 2021. Before moving to Zagreb, she worked as a reginal coordinator for climate and energy policies in the FES’ Department for Eastern Europe, and in Vietnam. She completed her PhD in the field of international relations after work stays in several Arabic states.
