Why Women’s Weekend?

In the last few decades, there have been positive changes in terms of equal opportunities and representation of women in society, but still, women are less likely to reach the highest levels of management compared to men, and the latest examples from America show how fragile the struggle for female authority is.

Women continue to experience discrimination in the workplace, family and social environment. There is a world of prejudice against women’s abilities and achievements. Women are paid less compared to their male colleagues in the same positions and with the same qualifications, and are often demoted to lower positions or stagnate in the same position after returning from maternity leave. This gap occurs in almost all industries.

As family and household responsibilities grow, women continue to shoulder most of them. Often, due to the impossibility of harmonizing family and business obligations, they are forced to abandon their careers. Consequently, they are not able to save for investment in further education, which is why they lose their financial freedom and are exposed to a greater risk of poverty and dependence on others.

Why are women underrepresented in decision-making bodies in politics and business? What are the challenges that women leaders will face in 2022 and how to overcome them? Can women have it all – family, career and time for themselves and their pleasures?

We will answer these and other current questions at the Women’s Weekend conference, which will be held from October 21 to 23, 2022 in Rijeka at the Hilton Costabella Rijeka Spa & Beach Resort.
