Sandra Švaljek, PhD
Dr. Sandra Švaljek graduated in 1992 from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Zagreb, where she earned her master’s degree in 1995 and a PhD in fiscal policy in 2000. From 1992 to 2018, she worked at the Economic Institute, Zagreb, where she achieved the academic title of Senior Research Advisor. She is the author of numerous scientific and professional papers, as well as book chapters, and has participated in and led multiple research projects while teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
From 2000 to 2013, she served as a member of the Council of the Croatian National Bank, and from 2005 to 2014, she was Director of the Economic Institute, Zagreb, and Chair of the Board of the International Graduate Business School Zagreb (IGBS). From June 2013 to March 2015, she served as Deputy Mayor of the City of Zagreb, responsible for economic affairs.
By decision of the Croatian Parliament, Sandra Švaljek was appointed Deputy Governor of the Croatian National Bank on 18 July 2018, and the Parliament entrusted her with a second six-year term on 19 July 2024.
